## How a Readbase summary is written

### What is the main difference between Readbase and Readwise Reader?

Focus, and what you pay for it. Reader spreads itself across RSS, PDFs, EPUBs, YouTube and saved articles, with newsletters as one more input, and it costs $9.99 a month once the 30-day trial ends. There is no free plan underneath. Readbase does newsletters: they arrive at your own address, every newsletter is summarised automatically, and that part is free. If newsletters are most of your reading, Reader is charging you for machinery you will never open.

### Does Readwise Reader summarise newsletters automatically?

No. Ghostreader is something you invoke yourself, on a document you have already opened, to ask a question or simplify a paragraph. It cannot tell you which of this morning's twenty newsletters to open, because you have to open one before it does anything. Readbase summarises every newsletter before you touch it. Summarising something you already committed to reading is a different job, and a much easier one.

### Is Readwise Reader free?
